Your child/adolescent may have had a recent change in behavior or mood, such as a drop in school grades, a withdrawal from fun activities, or increased sadness and/or worry. Or your child/adolescent may be experiencing an ongoing difficulty that has prompted you to seek help.
We can assist you in determining a course of action focused on helping your child feel, perform and/or behave better. We often utilize a family therapy approach and/or consider the family as a unit that can directly influence the outcome of the therapy. For older adolescents, sometimes an individual approach is preferred by the adolescent. We will decide together how to proceed with the goal of the best outcome possible for your child/adolescent.
Parenting
As a parent, you may have found that you would like some assistance in managing your children’s behavior. Or you may have had a significant life event, such as divorce, remarriage or another life change (ex: financial, health, death) that seems to have caused some disruption in the functioning of your family unit.
We provide assistance in both parenting and family adjustment issues and will help you through these difficult times, heal the emotional wounds, while reinforcing and strengthening your role as the parent in charge and maintaining/redefining your loving bond with your child.
Severe Emotional and Behavioral Problems
Sometimes children have experienced a severe emotional trauma or have otherwise developed a severe emotional/behavioral disturbance. The disturbance may be causing problems at home, in school, and in the community.
We provide services to address these issues with the goal of keeping your child on time with developmental tasks, including school performance and social skills, while assisting you in regaining control as a parent. We use treatment models that have been shown to provide you and your child with the best possible outcome.
